#404 - World's Fair Quilt 1940
This very popular Autumn Leaves pattern (formerly "Thousand Leaves") was possibly available as a widely circulated "Century of Progress" kit, and was made and exhibited during the time of the World's Fair in Chicago in 1940. This 90" x 108" top was made in the 1930's and was sent to the Philippines to be hand quilted in 1996. The hand quilting is perfect and showcases the quilter's tiny stitches. The designs complement and emphasize the find hand applique.
This pattern was also featured in the "Sears Century of Progress in Quilt Making" book, 1937.
